I discovered a clothes and accessories (shoes, bag, other accessories) repair shop on the 7th floor of SHIBUYA109! What is this all about? Wasting no time, I immediately asked for an interview with Big mama’s Sasaki Shop Manager on the origin and background of the store.
It appears that stores like moussy, rienda, sly, all of which are big sellers in denim, have increased in number in SHIBUYA109. This has hence triggered the need for the timely delivery of a ‘clothes alteration service’ to change the length of jeans and other apparel. I thought about the number of stores in SHIBUYA109 that were major providers of denim, and apart from the examples given above, there also includes COCO LULU on 6F, BLUE MOON BLUE and VENCE on B1.
Big mama opens from 10:00～21:00, and its busiest hours are from 16:00～18:00. The SHIBUYA109 store has ‘…omitted families and mainly targets girls in their 20’s. What differentiates the store from others is its special menu for one’s personal belongings such as shoes, bags and accessories. The interior mainly uses pink to suit the taste of 109Girls, and the bright lighting makes the store very user-friendly! Further more, the hand-made teddy bear made by Sasaki Store Manager really gives the store a soft finishing touch, don’t you think?

What really surprised me during the interview was that apparently 20% of the customers are males. They often come to Big mama thanks to their girl friends who are ever so eager to shop at SHIBUYA109. Personally I think it is pretty cool that the males bring clothes to alter at Big mama while the girlfriend shops around, don’t you?!=P This is the perfect example of couples in love~
